Agent secret de Churchill pendant la guerre, saboteur, père des nageurs de combat français, forestier et pétrolier en Afrique, acteur du dernier film de Jean-Luc Godard : Robert, dit « Bob » Maloubier, 87 ans, a traversé le XXe siècle comme un aventurier. Bob Maloubier, c’est aussi une gueule. Une « grande gueule », glissent ses rares détracteurs. Moustache blanche façon major des Indes, œil pétillant, blazer bleu marine avec le blason du Special Boat Service (nageurs de combat britanniques) dont il est breveté, insigne des nageurs de combat français au cou. Il nous raconte aujourd’hui ses deux années épiques passées au sein de la section française du Special Operations Executive (SOE), créé par Winston Churchill en juillet 1940, pour effectuer les sabotages et opérations spéciales contre les troupes allemandes en France occupée. Engagé dans le SOE à 19 ans, il a vécu l’Exode, les blessures, les prisons allemandes, une évasion de Bizerte envahi par l’Afrika Korps, l’assassinat de l’amiral Darlan par son ancien camarade de lycée Fernand Bonnier de la Chapelle... Il quitte l’armée britannique avec le grade de capitaine et la prestigieuse décoration Distinguished Service Order, accordée seulement à une soixantaine de Français pendant la guerre. Avec plein d’émotion, de verve et de faconde, il nous plonge ainsi dans le bain de l’époque, où coups tordus et héroïsme se mêlent, et dans la peau de ces combattants de l’ombre. On pourrait croire à un roman. C’est pourtant l’histoire vraie d’un héros de la guerre, l’un des deux derniers survivants du SOE.
