Dalí Cinema présente à la fois les principales peintures qui reflètent son intérêt pour le septième art et les grands projets cinématographiques auxquels il a collaboré.Le cinéma a permis à Dalí d’appréhender le pouvoir et les différentes utilisations de l’illusion. En 1929 et 1930, il collabore avec Luis Buñuel sur Un Chien andalou et L’Âge d’or, deux films aussi remarquables que controversés. Des années plus tard, Dalí travaille à Hollywood, aux studios Disney, puis avec Alfred Hitchcock. Pour ce dernier, il conçoit une séquence décrivant un rêve destinée au thriller psychologique La Maison du docteur Edwardes (Spellbound), qui demeure l’une des plus innovantes du cinéma. Au fil des ans, Dalí en vient à rejeter ce qu’il considère comme l’élitisme du film moderniste pour se tourner vers un cinéma plus populaire susceptible de faire connaître son œuvre au plus grand nombre.Cet ouvrage révèle la fascination profonde et constante de Dalí pour le cinéma, tout en donnant une nouvelle dimension à l’un des grands maîtres de l’art du XXe siècle.
