Ce livre richement illustré propose des réflexions philosophiques sur ces quelques questions, bien au-delà du cercle des spécialistes.Ce livre est publié en même temps qu’est inaugurée à Cap Sciences à Bordeaux l’exposition dite « Lascaux III », qui représente une première mondiale : une reconstitution grandeur nature d’une partie importante de la grotte ornée, qui doit pendant huit ans voyager en Amérique du Nord et en Asie, puis revenir en France. Cette exposition annonce aussi le Centre international qui permettra de visiter sous terre, à Montignac, l’essentiel de la grotte de Lascaux, reconstituée avec les moyens les plus modernes, et qui verra le jour dans trois ans.Le philosophe Jean-Paul Jouary, qui participe activement à ces deux réalisations, expose ici des réflexions amorcées dans des publications antérieures, et qui entrent dans la conception des deux projets.
