La monnaie va-t-elle sauver le monde ou le détruire ?

On assiste depuis quelques années à une formidable explosion de la création de monnaie au niveau planétaire. Rarement l’argent avait en effet à ce point coulé à flot. Ce n’est pas une inondation, c’est un véritable tsunami ! En 10 ans la quantité de monnaie a en effet été multipliée par 4 dans le monde. Il faut peut-être remonter au 16ème siècle, à une période où l’or espagnol importé du nouveau monde, se déversait en Europe, pour observer un tel déluge. Cet ouvrage vise à apporter un éclairage sur ce phénomène économique tout à fait extraordinaire mais pourtant peu connu du grand public. Il en décrit le mécanisme, en explique les causes et les conséquences possibles. Construit comme une histoire, il remonte aux origines de la monnaie pour montrer comment les Etats ont progressivement cherché à s’approprier le pouvoir monétaire, et comment la monnaie est devenue entre leur main une arme redoutable dont ils ont rarement su faire un bon usage. Il explique ensuite pourquoi la monnaie est rapidement apparue comme le principal remède à tous nos maux depuis le déclenchement de la crise des subprimes, et pourquoi cette fuite en avant monétaire totalement expérimentale n’a fait en réalité que soulager le malade sans vraiment le guérir.
