S’il est un homme dont la vie ne saurait être séparée de l’œuvre, c’est bien Michel-Ange : rien de ce qu’il vécut n’échappa à ce qu’il produisit, rien de ce qu’il créa ne resta sans effet sur son destin. Ascanio Condivi fut l’élève de Michel-Ange, et recueillit du maître lui-même confidences, mises au point, rêveries, réflexions et méditations. Ce texte, retraduit à partir de l’édition originale et éclairé par un appareil explicatif et documentaire complet, est ici proposé dans une nouvelle édition, revue et augmentée, abondamment illustrée.
